This canoe is a family heirloom, having been built by the owner’s grandfather sixty years ago. She came in to our shop in the fall of 2025 with a broken seat, four broken ribs and in need of an overall restoration.

At some point in the past the canvas skin had been removed and the canoe was sheathed in fiberglass, presenting some challenges to the restoration.
Four new ribs were steamed in place, clench-nailed and stained to match the existing ribs.
The exterior of the canoe was faired with epoxy and painted with Petit Jade Green.
A new seat frame, re-caning of the seats and multiple coats of varnish completed the restoration. Ready for many more years of use!
